Quarterfinals World Cup 2022 Preview and Prediction: Portugal vs Marocco

Portugal face Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup at Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, Qatar, on Saturday night.

Portugal face an overwhelming victory against Switzerland in the round of 16 by putting six goals in a team considered very efficient in the defensive sector.

They will have another challenge, to score goals in Morocco, the less leaked defense of the Cup.

Fernando Santos’ side nol has a record of (W4, L1) four wins and one defeat in the last five games and has an attack that has already scored twelve goals in this World Cup, three of them scored in the last game by Goncalo Ramos, substitute for Cristiano Ronaldo, who should continue as a starter for the remainder of the tournament.

Morocco has established itself as the great shock of the 2022 World Cup, being able to make history and be the first African team to reak the semifinal sage.

They defeated Belgium in the group stage and went through Spain in the round of 16, after winning on penalties.

Morocco’s last five games now have (4W, 1L) and in these games, it conceded only one goal, from Canada, in a 2-1 win.

Prediction

Morocco has its strong point in its defense, having conceded only one goal so far. However, we believe that Portugal has an offensive power with several alternatives and a very quick and harmonious transition from defense to attack.

The Portuguese had a quiet game against Switzerland, being able to save energy and their main players at the end of the game, while Morocco played more than 120 minutes in a high tension duel against Spain. Therefore, we believe that Portugal will be able to impose itself and come out with the victory in normal time.
