Robert Lewandowski said he feels more likely to win the Ballon d’Or now that he’s at Barcelona than he did when he was playing for Bayern Munich.
The Polish forward has already scored 11 goals in eight games for the Catalan club.
“I know that Barcelona are the team where more players have won the Ballon d’Or. I think the path to winning the Ballon d’Or is shorter at Barça than at Bayern,” Lewandowski said.
Lewandowski also spoke of the farewell to Munich and the reunion with the Bavarian club, last week, in a meeting for the Champions League, which ended with the triumph of the defending German champions.
“After signing for Barcelona I traveled to Munich, said goodbye to the Bayern fans and saw what they told me and how they treated me.” Lewandowski said.
“Bayern fans are very intelligent, they know how to distinguish between what is written in the media and the truth. But of course I wanted to beat Bayern. And I also wanted to score.
“The game was a big challenge for me. It was impossible for me to stop all these feelings. For me it was more than a sports game, it was a game of emotions.
“The most emotional moment? As soon as I entered the stadium. It was a strange feeling to go to another locker room and warm up in another area.” he added.
The striker ended up blank in that 2-0 defeat by Barca in Munich, but he has already scored 8 goals in 11 games for his new club.
Lewandowski has once again been nominated amongst the 30 finalists for the 2022 award but it remains to be seen whether he can win the prize ahead of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, who is being tipped as the favourite.
