L’Étape Rio by Tour de France presented by Santander will be attended by thousands of road cyclists, including anonymous ones, but also famous ones.
There are names like the journalist and presenter of ESPN Bruno Vicari and the former volleyball player Nalbert.
Cyclists will have to choose between the short and long route, with 55 km and 110 km, respectively. The departures will take place at 6 am, in Marina da Gloria, one of the main tourist attractions in the Marvelous City, on June 25th.
“It’s a spectacular route, passing through tourist attractions in Rio de Janeiro. Not to mention the time, with a closed track.” Nalbert said.
“And it’s a race that has my style: I’m heavy and I do better on the flat than on the climb. there is a climb, in Vista Chinesa, but I have practice there.
“I have lost weight and prepared myself with good food. On the other hand, I cannot train every day because of the injuries that volleyball gave me.” Nalbert added.
Nalbert and Bruno Vicari will join professional cyclists such as Murilo Fischer, who competed at the London Olympics in 2012.
The 43-year-old from Santa Catarina has already competed in the Tour de France on a few occasions, with the right to a third place in 2007. European country, by the way, will host the Olympic Games in 2024.
It is the third time that L’Étape will be in Rio de Janeiro and this competition is the second stage of L’Étape Brasil by Tour de France presented by Santander.
The first race of the 2023 calendar took place in April, in the city of Cunha ( SP). The third will be in Campos do Jordao, in September.
In April 2024, there will be a new edition in Cunha. L’Étape Brasil is aimed at amateur cyclists and has the seal of the Tour de France, one of the biggest street cycling competitions in the world.
