Alex Rins will start a new step in his career in 2023. He switched to a Honda and will race in the colours of the LCR Honda Team Castrol next season after having been active in the premier class on a Suzuki for six seasons.
Rins was already introduced to the new Honda RC213V during the one-day MotoGP test held on Tuesday after the last Grand Prix.
“I was happy to have made it official during the summer break. And I’m happy to have the opportunity to race with them next year.
“This is good news for me after Suzuki’s announcement that it’s leaving the championship, and I’m excited about the news and prospects that this change will bring to my life.” Rins added.
Rins naturally also finds a completely new team with all kinds of different people, including a new crew chief in the name of Christophe Bourguignon.
He was unable to bring his trusted Suzuki crew chief Manuel Cazeaux to his new team, who will keep competing in MotoGP.
Rins has used a variety of strategies to become MotoGP world champion in 2023. One of them is by bettering his physical condition, such as ending eating meat and becoming a vegetarian, which he has done in the past six months.
“I don’t think I’ve said it publicly before, but six months ago I became a vvegetarian” Rins said.
“Since then I have removed eating meat and fish from my diet, because of my physical condition but certainly also for animals.
“Since becoming a vegetarian I feel much better, both physically and mentally. And I can recommend everyone to do the same.” Rins added.
Rins will meet Takaaki Nakagami as a teammate within the LCR Honda Team, the Japanese will, as has been the case in recent years, appear at the start in other colors and the familiar LCR Honda Team Idemitsu design.
