The NBA on Friday released the latest update of the MVP race. The Brooklyn Nets star Kevind Durant remains sixth in the rankings despite not playing the team’s last 11 games.
The curious thing, then, is that Kevin Durant has remained in the same position for the NBA MVP since his injury.
The ace, in fact, even lost a position, but the following week, he returned to sixth place. That, even without entering the court.
On the other hand, the Nets’ expectation is to be able to count on their main player before the All-Star Game.
According to Shams Charania, from The Athletic portal, Durant showed evolution. So he would be available to coach Jacque Vaughn before the break for the All-Stars weekend on February 17th.
The updated ranking , however, does not have any new names. The same ten that appeared last Friday remain. But there have been changes of position.
Nikola Jokic is still the leader and favourite for the award. The Denver Nuggets star, therefore, is on the way to his third straight MVP.
The pivot reached a triple-double average after scoring 26 points, 18 rebounds and 15 assists against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Jokic, then, did not stop there. In the match against the Golden State Warriors, on Thursday, there were 22 points, 14 rebounds and 16 assists.
With that, he reached eight triple-doubles in the last ten games. His season numbers would already put him as the main favourite for MVP.
Moreover,, the Nuggets have a great campaign leading the Western Conference with just 16 defeats in 52 games.
Meanwhile Joel Embiid remained in second position. Scorer of the season with 33.5 points on average, he led the Philadelphia 76ers in the excellent month of January. The team won 11 of the 14 games played.
