Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of former Brighton & Hove Albion, Graham Potter, as their next permanent manager on a five-year contract.
Some people doubtful with Potter match style during at a Premier League football. But the Blues believed the 47-year-old coach is one of the most exciting coaches in the game.
“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to welcome Graham Potter as our new head coach, joining us on a five-year contract to bring his progressive football and innovative coaching to the club.” Chelsea said in a statement.
“Potter is one of the most exciting coaches in the game, starting his journey in Sweden before bringing his talents to the English game over the past four seasons.
“The 47-year-old is educated to degree level in disciplines beyond sport and has combined these experiences to forge a collaborative, forward-thinking approach while developing attacking and winning football.” Chelsea added.
Potter made his first impression in Sweden. The small team Ostersund led by him climbed from the fourth to the first division.
His side beat Galatasaray in the 2017-2018 Europa League qualifying round, then placed second in the group stage that season, in a group that included the famous Spanish Bilbao.
Potter waw elping Brighton avoid relegation in their first two seasons in the Premier League drew attention as well. This team finished ninth last season, the highest in the club’s history.
Brighton, under Potter, became a team that all opponents feared. They won over Manchester United in the opening match of the Premier League this season, most recently defeating Leicester 5-2.
“You can’t win every game. You have to have something for yourself. If you create an environment where the players believe they have a chance to improve, they will work hard for the team.” Potter said.
“I always remind myself of this, especially after losing a game. It usually takes me 1-2 days. to get out of a losing battle.” Potter added.
