The English Football Association (FA) have opened an investigation into Preston North End’s Montenegrin international striker, Milutin Osmajic.
The investigation comes after allegations surfaced that Osmajic bit Blackburn’s Owen Beck on Sunday.
“[Beck has] got a big bite mark on the back of his neck. He’s shown all the lads. He’s a little bit quiet, a little bit shook up.” the Blackburn manager, John Eustace, said.
Osmajic was signed for the North End during the summer transfer window and has been instrumental to their success as they featured heavily in the EFL Championship.
But this event is capable of in some way erasing all his work and becoming a huge distraction for him as well as for the whole team that is going for a successful season.
‘‘We confirm these allegations regarding our players and want to assure everyone that we will assist the authorities in any way possible if these statements are proven to be true.’’ Preston said in a statement.
“Our emphasis is on the field and guaranteeing that everyone out there behaves professionally,”
“We are committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct and will be working with Milutin to ensure he reflects on the experience and learns from it.” the club added.
Fulvious incidents in football existed before but are very rare, and the offenders are usually punished severely.
The most notably, former Liverpool superstar Luis Suarez engaged multiple suspensions for such actions, and there are strict penalties in football.
The FA has sent an assertive message to this effect pointing out of its zero-tolerance approach to violence in anyrstrip and called on footballers to respect one another.
According to reports Osmajic could face an eight-match ban plus a whopping £15,000 fine after he allegedly bit Blackburn defender.
