Miles Bridges is on the verge of returning to the Charlotte Hornets, but he will be suspended once his contract is settled.
According to journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, from ESPN, the player’s representatives are close to an agreement with the team.
However, due to off-court problems, Bridges would not return to court at least three months.
Bridges was arrested for domestic violence during the offseason. That is, just when he renewed his contract.
His case remains under investigation by the league, and it’s unclear how long a suspension he is facing, sources said.
At the time, ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst indicated that he would have around US$60 million for four years.
However, the value would be “too low” and the settlement would be close to US$20 million per year. As the case occurred at the end of the last regular season, it is possible that Bridges will not have all of this. Wojnarowski speculates that it would be well below initial projections.
Despite interest from two other teams, Miles Bridges is likely to sign with the Hornets and then he will be suspended by the NBA.
It is worth noting that, in 2014, Jeffery Taylor caught 24 hook games for a similar case. So it’s likely Bridges will get equal or greater punishment.
Bridges was in the gym following the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Hornets on Friday night. Charlotte won 134-130. At the end of the game, the athlete celebrated the victory with LaMelo Ball.
The winger was coming off his best season in the NBA. After recording averages of 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists, he ranked seventh in voting for the Most Improved Player award. Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies was elected, but handed the trophy to teammate Desmond Bane.
