Marcus Rashford took part the final press conference of the England team to address Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from Manchester United.
The United forward praise his former teammate despite Ronaldo’s way that makes it difficult in the Old Trafford at the start of the season, which ended in the termination of his contract with the Red Devils.
“Playing with him was an incredible experience. It’s something I’ll take with me forever. He’s one of my idols and someone who’s always inspired me.” Rashford said.
“I wish him the best for the rest of his career and want to thank him for everything he’s done at Manchester United” Rashford added.
Ronaldo ended his relationship with Manchester United by mutual consent last week, following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
However, the list of clubs who could sign the Portuguese superstar, despite being a free agent, is not a lengthy one.
Ronaldo enjoyed a superb first spell at Old Trafford between 2003 and 2009 when he lifted three Premier League titles and the Champions League under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Rashford also addressed the situation faced by him and Bukaio Saka after the Euro2020 final, where both missed penalties against Italy.
The situation led them to be targets of racist insults. Returning to the national team after those incidents, Rashford admitted it was not an easy time.
“You are disappointed to know that people can think like that. Dealing with racism is never easy, and it is also difficult to see someone go through it,” Rashford said.
“It’s good to be with the group again, without injuries or ‘little things’”, he added.
England’s next match will see them take on Senegal in the Round of 16 at the World Cup 2022. The match will take place on Sunday night.
