Manchester United are on the brink of completing the €175million signing of French international Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain in January.
According to reports, despite their brilliant past, the Red Devils may seek for a successor for their forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
This “unprecedented” offer, as defined by some of the media that echoed the intentions of Old Trafford’s senior managers, also includes a salary that is too much: nearly €600,000 a week.
In fact to the €175 million deal price for PSG, this also includes the signing of a contract with a very long term value of €30 million in salary per year.
It looks that this offer is insufficient for Nasser Al-Khelaifi despite the fact that the numbers are more than interesting.
The Paris Saint-Germain president realises that the amount of money is more than insufficient, especially considering the 200 million euros offered by Real Madrid two years ago for the same player and with fewer years in the contract.
According to reports, United board of directors are really convinced that they can convince Mbappe to join a sporting project that has been aimless since before 2018.
Mbappe is not interested in switching teams at the moment. Because the Frenchman was so adamant, no one at PSG would accept anything other than the multiple demands the Ligue 1 giants made when they reluctantly began negotiating with Real Madrid.
Ronaldo will be allowed to leave United in January, with manager Erik ten Hag granting him permission to find a new club.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect. The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford.” United said in a statement.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.” they added.
