FanDuel Sportsbook – Sports Betting Partnership focuses on Online Wagering

The spate of technology and brand alliances in new sports betting industry keeps on announcing that Boyd Gaming Corporation and FanDuel Group entered into a new contract late Thursday to pursue online gaming and sports betting opportunities across the US.

Boyd declared an alliance with MGM Resorts International earlier this week, which would enable two leading casino operators in South Nevada and now in the growing number of local gaming markets to promote sports betting in states where a company is licensed and next is not.

Boyd Gaming is considered one of the largest gaming operators and it will operate 29 casinos in 10 states after acquiring four Pinnacle properties and Valley Forge in Pennsylvania.

FanDuel Sportsbook has another partner to find opportunities across sports betting states in Boyd Gaming. Boyd has rich past in sports betting as owner of Stardust on the LA Strip. Even though Boyd owned the properties years after “Lefty” Frank Rosenthal opened 9000 sq. ft. sportsbook in the year 1976 and company grew the concept of Rosenthal and turned Stardust into legal sports betting in the US. In 2007, the Stardust was demolished to make way for major project of Boyd casino, which was never completed after economic downturn of 2008.

Genting Group, which was based in Malaysia, bought the site from Boyd, with plans in opening a Chinese-themed resort, Resorts World by 2020. Now called as FanDuel Group, the top DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) company after the full equal DraftKings, the company claims the presence in 45 states and 8 million customers. Acquired by Paddy Power Betfair in July, FanDuel operates new sportsbook at Meadowlands Racetrack and it will operate the operation of sportsbook at West Virginia’s Greenbrier Resort when state conducts sports wagering.

Making Digital Presence

The agreement between FanDuel and Boyd is subject to regulatory and state law approvals, which would allow Boyd to build online presence and national sports wagering by accessing the technology and allied services of FanDuel Group to operate Boyd Gaming online sports betting and mobile gaming services. FanDuel is all set to operate online and mobile sports betting and gaming under its brand in states where there is license for Boyd Gaming.

Chief Executive AOfficer of FanDuel Group, Matt King added, “There is a huge momentum in the world of sports betting and we are looking forward to connect with Boyd Gaming to expand presence of FanDuel Sportsbook to more customers across the US.”
