Devin Booker returned to the court on Wednesday after a six-week absence, and he had a front-row seat to the Cam Thomas show.
His return after a month and a half layoff inspired the Phoenix Suns to a 116-112 win over the Brooklyn Nets despite Cam Thomas putting up over 40 points for a third straight game.
Booker contributed 19 points, four rebounds, six assists and a steal in 26 minutes. While his use was 40% in pitches.
“That’s all I want. I want to compete, be back with my group and feel that energy.” Booker said after the match.
“The team is already in a good rhythm, so I just need to fit into the rotation without screwing it up. I have to contribute to improve what we already have.” Booker added.
The Arizona team deals with constant injuries, especially to the most important players on the roster, according to the Suns head coach, Monty Williams.
“Devin’s attitude is always good. He just wants to train and win. This is how he lives. And he wants to do everything he can to win games.” Williams said.
“So I think the other players were very inspired by his energy in today’s game. Everyone is happy he’s back,” he added.
Booker’s winning return to the court was nearly derailed by another spectacular performance from Thomas, who became the youngest player in history to score 40 points in three consecutive games at the age of 21.
Thomas became the youngest player in NBA history to have three straight games with 40+ points.
“It’s just surreal. I’m just happy to etch my name in history, especially at such a young age.” Thomas said.
“I wish I had won though, because it doesn’t sound good when you have these games with that many points and you lose two of them. But I’m happy. I’m glad that all my hard work is paying off.” Thomas added.
