The release of a new version of Counter Strike 2 game requires professional players to adapt, but it is also an opportunity to expand the number of players and therefore the eSports fan base.
Overall, the gameplay will change little in the new version, while the graphics will take a little facelift.
According to Team Vitality apEX Counter Strike Player Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, Counter Strike is one of the most emblematic and essential games in eSports. The game has been present for more than twenty years, on different iterations of the game.
However, CS2, it is mainly an improvement of the existing Counter Strike. It may not be a revolution in terms of gameplay, but it’s still a welcome change for professional players.
“I think it’s an improvement of CG:GO (the current version on which the professional players, rather than a different game.” Madesclaire said.
“I was able to play it for a few minutes. There will be a different gameplay with the smokes. But other than that I don’t see any big differences.” Madesclaire added.
Counter Strike is a game that has solid foundations, which players know very well, but here it is, there is this little bit of freshness and it is also potentially a way to make the game more understandable to win over these new fans.
The version of the game as players know it will no longer be used in competition within a year. It’s as if players had an update in football, playing with a little bit smaller ball or a little bit narrower goals.
But, it’s going to take a little bit of time for pro players and casual players to adapt.
“I hope they will do things for neophytes, that we still get new players. Because Counter Strike is the greatest shooter of all time.” Madesclaire said.
“It was complicated for neophytes so there I hope they can arrive in the game without problem and have fun.” he added.
