Antonio Conte Refuses to React on Emerson Royal’s Red Card as Tottenham 3-1 Defeat over Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has refused to comment on Emerson Royal’s red card against Arsenal on Saturday night.

The wing-back was dismissed on the hour with his side 2-1 down at the Emirates following a challenge on Gabriel Martinelli.

“I don’t want to comment on the referee’s decision. With the red card, [went] the game. It was a really difficult game after that. We had to change totally then.” Conte said.

Tottenham struggled more than it should, disappointing expectations in the match at the Emirates Stadium. A game that saw the Gunners dominate large sections of the match, without ever really suffering the advances of the Spurs .

Former Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus scored his fifth goal for Arsenal and helped the team to a 3-1 win in the derby with Tottenham.

The Brazilian improved his starting stats for the new team and was open about how happy he was with the atmosphere he found with the London squad.

It was embarrassing to see and it looked clear that Conte barely had an idea of how to change the course of the game.

“We had the opportunity to exploit much better and stay up and I repeat that I think we made big mistakes in the last pass and with easy passes but it happens and straight after the national team it is a bit difficult because players arrive at a different time.” Conte said.

“Now we have to move on but we know our role in this league and we have to try and do our best to stay close to the other teams at the top. I tried to give minutes to players because the game had ended and also to try and save energy.” Conte added.
