LeBron James is reportedly would change his mind about playing with his son Bronny in the NBA.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, LeBron’s prospects of playing alongside Bronny may have changed due to his son’s own wishes.
However, it is difficult to understand how LeBron and Bronny truly feel about playing together in the NBA.
“LeBron had been very clear to everyone since this season began about his desire to play with his son. However, I think the perspective changed along the way.” Windhorst said.
“Now, what I feel is that he continues to make it very clear that this is his dream, but it is not, for example, Bronny’s own dream. The boy never mentioned this publicly, so there’s no way to know.” Windhorst added.
In an interview, LeBron stated that he is fine if his son decides to follow his own path without him in the league.
On the other hand, in a commercial for Beats by Dre, LeBron expressed his desire to not only play with Bronny but also with his second son, Bryce James.
Bronny, the eldest son of LeBron, is currently enrolled at the Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles. He is considered one of the top point guards in the country.
Bronny has expressed interest in playing for several colleges, including Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, and UCLA.
However, there has been speculation that he may consider committing to an HBCU, with North Carolina Central having the best odds to land him.
LeBron’s retirement decision may be influenced by his desire to play with his son in the NBA. However, it is important to note that LeBron’s personal priorities, including playing with his son, may override his future with the Los Angeles Lakers.
From an economic standpoint, it has been suggested that it may make more sense for Bronny to return to college basketball rather than enter the NBA draft, as LeBron’s salary is currently valued at $4.2 million, which is more than what Bronny would receive if selected in the 2024 draft at a similar range.
