Eddie Bauer GYM is hoping to do enough for Angola at the Arnold Classic Africa men’s bodybuilding championships in 2023.
Speaking to Jornal de Angola, Eddie Bauer GYM coach Edir Guimaraes Fernandes insisted that the preparation of the athletes is proceeding at a good pace so far.
In addition to the technical component, the administrative processes that precede the trip are in the final stages.
“Our preparation didn’t stop, after the National Championship, we just readjusted the athletes’ diet, as it was an extremely rigorous process because they should all be at the ideal weight before the start of the Arnold Classic.” Fernandes said.
The initial plan was to represent a larger number of athletes from the well-known Eddie Bauer Gym, but financial constraints forced Fernandes to postpone the ambition.
There are Elizangelo Ribeiro, Danilo Carvalho, both from the Classic Physics category and Denilson Ivaldir (Men Elit Pro), and Florisvaldo Francisco (Men Physics).
Fernandes recognised that the results obtained in the national are a reflection of the work that the Eddie Bauer Sports Group has been doing, despite the numerous difficulties.
“There were seven athletes who climbed to the podium, with three gold medals, an equal number of silver and one bronze.” Fernandes said.
Fernandes has regreted the fact that there are few companies and entrepreneurs willing to bet on the modality, especially for international competitions.
This has been the main headacheof bodybuilding promoters. Fernandes stressed that the fact that the Angolan Federation of the sport, chaired by Bralio Martins, bears the cost of stay, registration and food considerably minimises the costs of the teams.
Arnold Classic will be back 19-21 May, at Ruimsig Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. This was clearly supported by the independent impact study produced by BMI each year.
