KTM test rider Dani Pedrosa on Tuesday has spoke openly for the first time about his upcoming MotoGP wildcard appearance.
According to reports, Pedrosa will make his second MotoGP wildcard appearance at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez on the weekend of April 28-30.
This will his second wildcard appearance since retiring, with the former Repsol Honda rider also taking part in the 2021 Grand Prix of Styria at the Red Bull Ring.
“As you may know, I will be doing an appearance as a wildcard rider at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez later this year,” Pedrosa said.
“I’m really happy about this opportunity with the KTM Factory Racing Team. We’ll be doing this wildcard mainly to get more experience out of MotoGP Sprint and the new MotoGP format. Hopefully, we can get as much experience as possible from the weekend.” Pedrosa added.
Pedrosa and former teammate Marc Marquez had stood together on the podium for the Repsol Honda Team on one occasion in 2013, for first and second positions.
“I’m also really happy to be participating that weekend because Jerez has a special vibe. It’s always a great atmosphere there. I’m looking forward to meeting all of the fans again.” Pedrosa said.
“I’ll also be sharing the track with the best of the best. I hope if you can’t get to the circuit that you’ll follow it from the TV and enjoy the weekend as much as I will.” he added.
Meanwhile Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager, Francesco Guidotti, on Saturday has as confirmed that Pedrosa will make a wildcard appearance at the Spanish Grand Prix in April.
“I received confirmation a few minutes ago that Dani will have a wildcard in Jerez, so it means how important he is for us and the contribution he can give to us is high,” Guidotti said.
