Novak Djokovic lifted the 2023 Australian Open trophy with a 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas on Sunday.
The Serbian tennis icon celebrated the win passionately, and then couldn’t stop crying as he shared his joy with his loved ones at the stands at Rod Laver Stadium.
Djokovic remained calm after winning the decisive point in the final against Tsitsipas. He pointed to his head, implying that he had overcome many difficulties both on and off the field to win the championship with a cold head
Courage is also the difference of Nole from the opponent, when he won two tie-breaks in the second and third sets to end the match in just three sets.
Djokovic headed to the area with the appearance of relatives to share the joy.
He returned and continued to prove he was the “King” of the Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne after a year of absence due to being expelled from Australia.
Djokovic has won the title in 10 finals. Only him and Rafael Nadal have won a Grand Slam tournament 10 times or 14 times so far.
“This has been one of the most difficult tournaments, considering the circumstances. not playing last year coming back this year,” Djokovic said.
“I want to thank all the people who made me feel comfortable. There is a reason I have been playing may best tennis here.
“Only the team and family knows what we have been though in the last four or five weeks. This is probably, I would say, the biggest victory in my life, considering the circumstances.” Djokovic added.
Djokovic had hamstring trouble going into the championship due to an injury he suffered at the Adelaide International, which he also won, earlier in January.
