History Overview of Horse Racing Betting

Horse racing is one of the oldest sports known to mankind and from the colonial age, betting on it has been a favorite activity for gambling enthusiasts. It began in the ancient Greek Olympics and got the status of a professional sport during the first two decades of the 18th century.

With the evolution of online gambling, a considerable number of betting sites are offering attractive bonuses on horse racing betting in Malaysia and it is gaining much popularity next to Malaysia Poker.

In this page, you will be able to have a brief cover on the basics of horse racing betting.

What are the types of bets in Horse Racing?

Generally, there are basically three prevalent types of horse racing bet:
• Win
• Place
• Show

A Win is betting on a horse with odds of coming in the first place. It is popularly known as ‘straight bet’ because there is only one chance that the horse finishes first. The payout amount is normally higher than the remaining two.
A Place means staking money on a horse for either first or the second place. It means the bet in a Place would be the winner when the horse finishes first or second. The prize money is lower than that of a Win.

A Show is the easiest bet among all with three alternative winning results. The bet becomes a winner when the horse comes first, or second, or third. Payout amount offered by bookmakers is considerably low due to the higher level of chances of winning.

Modern Forms of Horse Racing Betting

Unlike a casino, lottery, or Malaysia Poker, betting on a particular horse simply for a specific place may sound boring to you. But wait! There are different forms of horse racing betting that are evolved with a combo of different odds and prediction.

When the number of horses in the race goes down to seven or less, the Place and Show option are cancelled. In case of a large number of racers, a bet may be split in two and a half being placed on a Win while the other on a Place. It is called Each-Way (E/W).

Sometimes, gamblers place their wagers on a particular horse to finish in a particular place. It is called a Wheel. For example, a bet is placed on horse ‘H’ to finish in 7th position. The bet will lose even if ‘H’ finishes first.

Another popular type is the accumulator (double) that requires the selection of two horses but in different races. To win the bet both the horses needs to come first.
