Luck ran out for four men, who were caught red-handed gambling, when the Bukit Aman’s Special Task Force for Anti-Vice, Gaming and Gangsterism (STAGG) conducted three separate raids here, last night. A 30-year-old technician, who works at a factory in Klang were among those arrested, said he has been gambling since he was young. “My wife doesn’t know of my gambling habit. I arrived here less than 10 minutes ago and paid RM100 to gamble,” said the man, who earns RM1,500 a month. A 28-man team lead by Superintendent Hussin Mat Junis, also saw the arrest of six staff at the premises, of which four are Indonesians.
Personnel from the Klang Selatan police district headquarters’ Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) also joined the four-hour operation. STAGG Chief Assistant Director SAC Mohd Nadzri Hussin said the operation was carried out following public complaints on rampant illegal gambling in the area. He said Op Dadu Klang Selatan saw three premises in Bandar Parklands raided. It is believed that these gambling outlets have been operating for two months. “One of the gambling outlets was hidden in a snooker centre. There were special rooms for gamblers. “The premises are well-equipped with remote control for the access door that enables the operator to screen those entering the outlet as well as closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs),” he told NSTP.
He said the police seized 43 laptops, two PC sets, modem, three simulator machines, notebooks and RM690 in cash. He said the case was being investigated under Section 4B (a) and Section 6 (1) of Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 as well as Section 6 (1)(c) and Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.
